Mille et Une Nuits
In the expanse of the night, an opera for the 21st century emerges, featuring new aesthetics and perspectives. Iranian choreographer Sorour Darabi presents his first opera at Radialsystem – an immersive performance that gives space to voices sidelined by ancient myths. "Mille et Une Nuits" illuminates "One Thousand and One Nights" from the perspective of the narrator Scheherazade. Darabi creates a space where Scheherazade can flourish as a queer myth, far from cis-heteronormative constraints, exploring an aesthetic of the transgender voice and the affective landscape of vocal transformation.
