Former Ought members Tim Darcy and Ben Stidworthy joined forces with US Girls drummer Evan Cartwright to form Cola. Their debut album Deep in View follows the blueprint of their previous band: jittery post-punk with Darcy’s signature spoken-sung vocals and clever, abstract lyricism. The music is sparse and rhythmically driven, focusing on the chemistry between Stidworthy's melodic basslines and Cartwright's intricate percussion. Cola explores the tension between minimalist arrangements and sophisticated songwriting, creating a sound that is both familiar to fans of Ought and distinct in its own right.
