Grand Performances and Proyecto Pastoral present Todos Somos Sagrados (All Are Sacred): An Evening of Flor y Canto. This special event celebrates the release of poet and attorney Rey M. Rodríguez's debut collection, which serves as a tribute to the women of Proyecto Pastoral in Boyle Heights. The evening features a diverse lineup of poets sharing stories of healing, peace, and resilience in Los Angeles, accompanied by musical performances that fuse traditional mariachi elements with modern styles. The program includes readings by California poets laureate and award-winning writers exploring themes of immigration, working-class identity, and social justice. Rey M. Rodríguez’s work, influenced by his background as an advocate and his studies at the Institute of American Indian Arts, captures the pains and joys of the community through bilingual verse.
