Seven Tones of Love

A recital exploring seven types of love through a program of piano, cello, and poetry. The performance traces the deep bonds between Johannes Brahms and the celebrated composer couple Robert and Clara Schumann, whose musical works serve as intimate diaries of their passions and dreams. Taking inspiration from ancient Greek, Indian, and Sufi literary traditions, the program features seven pieces comprising four musical works and three literary narrations. The evening brings together the acclaimed duo of pianist Asako Ogawa and cellist Nikolay Ginov with poet Chinwe D. John, who performs her lyrical writing from the song cycle 'Within a Certain Time and Place'.
