A danceable, underground italian folk night.
Marenera brings the energy and expressive power of southern Italian folk music to the stage. The ensemble is devoted to a living musical tradition closely tied to dance, ritual, and festive occasions. Their performances feature a vibrant repertoire that spans traditional dances and songs from various Italian regions, with a strong focus on the South. The program includes Pizziche from Apulia, Tammurriate from Campania, and diverse forms of Tarantella from southern Italy and Sicily. Alongside instrumental dances, the ensemble performs Stornelli—traditional love and work songs passed down through generations—as well as Saltarelli, waltzes, and other folk songs. The selection of pieces is tailored to suit each specific setting and occasion, inviting the audience to engage with the music and dance.
