An underground experimental night.
Opening is the formidable Wendy Eisenberg, a composer and multi-instrumentalist who's collaborated with artists like Bill Orcutt, more eaze and John Zorn and simultaneously developed their voice as a solo songwriter. Their most recent album, released just earlier this year, might be their most celebrated to date, a mash-up of folk, baroque pop and eccentric Americana. They perform with a band. Based in Amsterdam, Devon Rexi tests the limits of liminality with their borderless diasporic post-punk, singing in frazzled, pitch-shifted Farsi and shifting through dub, no-wave and kraut rock. They appear at Unsound alongside John T. Gast, an enigmatic UK-based producer who went from co-producing Dean Blunt and Inga Copeland's "Black is Beautiful" album to releasing a slew of mind-altering full-lengths on his own 5 Gate Temple imprint. Then, closing out the evening, is an Unsound-commissioned collaboration between Warsaw's own Julek Ploski and producer, visual artist and co-founder of Orange Milk Records Keith Rankin, aka Giant Claw. The duo presents their new A/V performance "CONTROL FREAK", and if Ploski's cartoonish last album "Hotel *****" was anything to go on, we should all prepare ourselves for absolute mayhem.
