Ravel's ballet Daphnis and Chloé conjures a paradise of gods and nymphs, creating a vivid love story where every kiss springs to life through musical composition. The programme also features Faust et Hélène by Lili Boulanger, a drama of seduction and damnation that evokes the tensions of a turbulent age. Guest conductor Kazuki Yamada leads the BBC Symphony Orchestra through these works, with the sumptuous Ravel ballet performed complete with the voices of the BBC Symphony Chorus.
