An underground, slow-burn classical night.
Mezzo-soprano Rowan Hellier and pianist Jonathan Ware present 'She Represents', a costumed Lieder recital exploring female expression and identity through the late 19th and 20th-century ideal of the 'New Woman'. The performance brings together works by composers including Francis Poulenc, Rita Strohl, Cathy Berberian, Kurt Weill, Mischa Spoliansky, and Arnold Schoenberg, paired with evocative costumes inspired by artists Jeanne Mammen and Otto Dix.
