A nostalgic, underground vocal jazz night.
The London Jazz Orchestra pays tribute to the centenary of John Coltrane with a special performance of Africa/Brass. Originally released in 1961 as Coltrane's first large-scale recording, the work features a rich palette of brass instruments framing a core quintet. For this session, LJO director Scott Stroman has expanded the original arrangements for jazz orchestra, including an orchestral version of Naima. The performance consists of two sets of music, the first featuring vocalist Brigitte Beraha.
