Royal Philharmonic Orchestra plays Fauré's Requiem, with Brighton Festival Chorus
A programme of exquisite French and English music, culminating in Gabriel Faure’s Requiem. The concert opens with Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine, a vision of peace and devotion, followed by the shimmering world of Lili Boulanger’s Les sirènes, evoking the mythical song of the sirens. Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis provides a striking contrast with one of the most profound and atmospheric landscapes in English music.
