Harry Dennis & Friends
An underground, nostalgic chicago house night.
JuJu Muzik brings a very special evening to BBE Record Store, celebrating 40 years of two landmark recordings that helped define the sound of house music. Harry Dennis is a foundational figure in Chicago house - the voice behind The It's "Donnie" (1986), one of the genre's earliest vocal classics, and co-founder of Jungle Wonz alongside Marshall Jefferson, whose records "Time Marches On" and "The Jungle" (1986) remain cornerstones of the deep house canon. A collaborator of Larry Heard, Robert Owens, Ron Hardy, Joe Claussell, Ron Trent and Frankie Knuckles, Dennis has been at the heart of house music since its earliest days on Chicago's West Side. On Tuesday 18th August he performs a rare live PA, plus a Q&A hosted by Nicky Trax (Phuture Trax) - an opportunity to hear first-hand stories from the frontline of house music history. Joining him on the night are Julian Garnett (JuJu Muzik), special guests Marcia Carr (Girlz B Like) and Rob Redford (X-Trax), plus Point Blank Radio DJs Pollo, SI K and Damian Charles. The evening also celebrates the recent release of Harry's latest vinyl, Counting Clouds, on JuJu Muzik.
