Founded in 1968 by Alejandro Lora, they were originally known as Three Souls in My Mind and became famous for performing rock music in Spanish, laying the groundwork for the genre's growth in Mexico. After rebranding as El Tri in 1985, they became the first Mexican rock band to earn a gold record with their debut album. The group is celebrated for its dedicated fanbase and its significant influence on Latin rock over nearly five decades.
