Formed by Jairo Varela, the group made their debut in 1980 and became a major tropical act, famously performing at New York's Madison Square Garden in 1986. Known for their dynamic sound and hits like Una Aventura and Cali Pachanguero, the band evolved in the '90s to include more romantic lyrics alongside their traditional social themes.
