Gentle, wistful, and sacred – that's the sound of Dagobert's eighth studio album, "Rama Kalala." On this record, the Swiss pop innovator focuses on his core competence: the love song. These 34 minutes feel like a warm embrace, touching on honest feelings and spiritual connections. From the classic pop sound of "Hör auf dein Herz" to the telepathic connection in "Das innere Licht," Dagobert continues to evolve his sound. The album features ethnological influences and even his first English-language song, "Lady Kalala," which includes a saxophone solo by jazz legend Christoph Gallio. Produced by Konrad Betcher, the sound is intimate and reduced, influenced by Alice Coltrane's later work with spherical synths and mantra-like choirs.
