The Descendents are a pioneering punk rock band established in 1978 in Manhattan Beach, California. Founded by guitarist Frank Navetta, bassist Tony Lombardo, and drummer Bill Stevenson, the group is celebrated as a major influence on the Southern California hardcore punk scene. Known for their short, high-energy tracks and melodic punk sound, their 1982 debut album 'Milo Goes To College' remains a landmark recording in the genre. Despite a career marked by several hiatuses, the band has maintained a lasting legacy, with their work directly inspiring numerous modern pop-punk and skate-punk acts like Green Day, Blink-182, and Fall Out Boy.
