The Descendents are a pioneering punk rock band established in 1978 in Manhattan Beach, California. Initially formed by guitarist Frank Navetta, bassist Tony Lombardo, and drummer Bill Stevenson, the group evolved from short hardcore tracks to melodic punk rock anthems. Their 1982 debut album, 'Milo Goes To College', is widely regarded as a cornerstone of the Southern California hardcore movement. Known more for their massive influence on the genre than commercial chart success, they have inspired legendary bands including Blink 182, Green Day, and The Offspring. After a hiatus, their 1996 release 'Everything Sucks' marked their first appearance on the Billboard 200.
