Irish Baroque Orchestra & Peter Whelan
A nostalgic, underground baroque night.
Messiah was first performed at a charity matinée in Dublin in April 1742, striking deep roots in Georgian Ireland’s capital city. Peter Whelan and his Irish Baroque Orchestra draw on their collective knowledge of music making in early 18th-century Dublin and the origins of Handel’s oratorio to open fresh perspectives on its reflections on the story of Christ’s incarnation, crucifixion and resurrection from the dead.
