A raw opera night.
Alexandre Kantorow performs Brahms’ epic and dramatic Piano Concerto no. 1, a work that began as a symphony and evolved into a cornerstone of Romanticism. The programme continues with Dvořák’s dark and intimate Symphony no. 7, a work in which the composer moved away from Slavic folklore towards more ardent, personal expression, often linked to the memory of his mother. Sir Antonio Pappano conducts the Chamber Orchestra of Europe in this evening of masterworks sharing the same minor key.
