Het Collectief explores the interwar period with a vibrant program of modernist chamber music. The selection primarily features works from the 1920s, a time of significant political and artistic upheaval. The repertoire includes pieces by Janáček, Antheil, and Schulhoff, as well as Stravinsky’s Septet from 1954, which surprisingly employed twelve-tone techniques. A rare highlight is the energetic ballet Der Dämon by a young Paul Hindemith. The ensemble, known for specializing in the Second Viennese School, performs these intimate yet grand compositions in various formations.
