E.J. Strickland is a New York-based drummer and composer known for his powerful rhythmic foundations and cumulative energy. A frequent collaborator for jazz icons like Wynton Marsalis and Ravi Coltrane, Strickland has established himself as a visionary leader through his own projects. He currently heads the E.J. Strickland Quintet, Transient Beings, and the innovative group Pads N Loops, while also performing with Lakecia Benjamin’s Phoenix and the David Weiss Sextet. A globally recognized educator and NYU jazz faculty member, Strickland continues to expand the expressive possibilities of the drum set by blending lyrical melodies with intricate rhythmic structures.
