A nostalgic, underground baroque night.
In these works for solo violin, Bach reveals music at its most intimate and personal. Bach’s Violin Sonata No. 3 opens with an expressive, improvisatory feel before unfolding into a monumental work where a single line transforms into a chorus of voices. Bach’s Violin Partita No. 2, composed during the year of his wife's passing, is filled with longing and nostalgia, concluding with the haunting beauty of the Chaconne. These masterpieces are performed by 2024 ClassicFM ‘Rising Star’ violinist Charlotte Spruit as part of the London Festival of Baroque Music.
