Sibelius Competition winner Sueye Park makes her Proms debut performing Sibelius’s Violin Concerto, a deeply personal and expressive work. The programme also features the UK premiere of Betsy Jolas’s Tales of a Summer Sea and Richard Strauss’s Nietzsche-inspired tone poem Also sprach Zarathustra, famously used in Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. John Storgårds conducts the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra in this performance recorded for broadcast on BBC TV.
