An underground classical night.
A performance featuring Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto, a work of technical difficulty and immense melodic power. Soloist Francesco Piemontesi joins the Los Angeles Philharmonic under the direction of Joana Mallwitz. The program also includes Kodály’s Dances of Galánta, inspired by Hungarian folk tunes, and Hindemith’s Mathis der Maler Symphony, a mid-1930s exploration of cultural tradition and the artist's societal role.
