The Body As An Instrument: A Workshop By Barbatuques
A danceable, uplifting mpb night.
Discover the joy of mastering rhythms and movements with your own body alongside the internationally acclaimed Brazilian group Barbatuques. The body is our first instrument, with rhythm naturally present through the heartbeat, respiration, and movement. This beginner-friendly workshop explores sound exploration (clapping, snapping, stomping) and group dynamics to foster connection and enhance focus. Participants will re-experience familiar sounds and develop new repertoires through improvisation games and group activities. Barbatuques is a pioneering São Paulo-based Brazilian percussion group known for creating music solely with the human body and voice, blending traditional Brazilian rhythms with contemporary styles such as beatboxing and electronic music.
