UNEXPECTED LESSON 2: Meshwar Mixtapes – Intro to Afghanistan
„Meshwar Mixtapes“ is a listening series initiated by DJ DumTak, in which moderators guide the audience through personal and collective stories. They weave together narratives, music and projected translations of lyrics into an intimate communal encounter. Each episode focuses on underrepresented and marginalized experiences. „Intro to Afghanistan“, presented as part of the UNEXPECTED LESSONS – Knowledges of Body and Sound program, is hosted by Afghan-born scholar Homaira. The session explores the hidden treasures of Afghan culture, heritage, and the longings of an unknown and often unheard narrative. The second part of the series, „Music as Resistance“, focuses on music and dance practices as forms of resistance. In addition to the listening session, there will be a Dabke workshop with Nancy Naser Al Deen.
