Berliner Philharmoniker: Zubin Mehta & Pinchas Zukerman
A nostalgic classical night.
Antonín Dvořák gained fame for the folkloric Bohemian echoes in his music. With his Seventh Symphony, he showed a completely different side: none of his previous symphonies had been as dark, melancholic, and defiant as this one. In contrast, Max Bruch's First Violin Concerto, his most famous work, captivates with enchantingly intimate melodies and elegant virtuosity. The solo part is interpreted by Pinchas Zukerman, who, like conductor Zubin Mehta, has been associated with the Berliner Philharmoniker for decades. The evening opens with Mozart's lively overture to the opera Le nozze di Figaro.
