Sinfoniekonzert: Rosenkavalier Enigma
A raw, nostalgic opera night.
Bismarckstraße 35, 10627 Berlin-Bezirk Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf
Richard Strauss' playful waltz comedy meets his musical farewell, while Edward Elgar presents the audience with a great mystery. With his Enigma Variations, Elgar created fourteen character pieces for orchestra, musically portraying people from his circle. In contrast, Strauss' Four Last Songs, composed at the end of his life and set to poems by Hermann Hesse and Joseph von Eichendorff, are permeated by a meditative atmosphere of farewell and transcendence. The Rosenkavalier Suite serves as an ironic homage to the Viennese waltz and the three-quarter time. Jonathan Nott, one of today's most versatile conductors, leads the Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin for the first time, featuring soloist Corinne Winters.
