Potsa Lotsa XL: Pizza Lotsa
An underground free jazz night.
Schönhauser Allee 36, 10435 Berlin, Germany
What do artichokes, mozzarella, tomatoes, and ten improvisational musicians have in common? At Pizza Lotsa, the ensemble Potsa Lotsa XL—led by Berlin-based saxophonist and composer Silke Eberhard—explores this question through music. Inspired by her own Dada-influenced short film Eine Sekunde Nichts (A Second of Nothing), pizza recipes become scores and ingredients become musical characters. With compositions developed specifically for the project, collective improvisation, and a great enthusiasm for playful shifts in perspective, Potsa Lotsa XL transforms culinary ideas into multi-layered soundscapes. A concert evening blending jazz, avant-garde, and improvisation, spiced with a pinch of Dada and plenty of imagination. Potsa Lotsa XL was honored as the Large Ensemble of the Year at the German Jazz Awards in 2023.
