Formed in 1994 in Glendale, California, System of a Down is a renowned alternative-metal four-piece. Following their early success with self-titled demo tapes and their debut album featuring hits like "Sugar" and "Spiders," the band reached global stardom with their chart-topping 2001 album Toxicity. Known for their socially and politically conscious lyrics, they continued their success with albums like Steal This Album! and the Mezmerize/Hypnotize double release before taking a hiatus in 2006. They returned to the stage in 2010 for major festival headlines. Queens of the Stone Age, hailing from Palm Desert, California, was founded by Josh Homme in 1996. The band's heavy yet melodic sound has evolved through several high-profile line-ups and successful records, including the critically acclaimed Songs for the Deaf and Lullabies to Paralyze.
