Palestine-born, New York-based master qanun player and composer Firas Zreik marks the release of his album Tarabesque. Joined by saxophonist/flutist Gideon Forbes, guitarist Ramiro Marziani, bassist John Murchison, and percussionist Alber Baseel, Zreik merges traditional Arab tarab and maqam modal traditions with modern jazz and global styles, reimagining the qanun as both a melodic and rhythmic centerpiece.
