Lean and mean. Does its business and gets out. Nails the spirit of Parker.1973 crime movies: The Outfit, The Friends of Eddie Coyle, Magnum Force, The Long Goodbye, Charley Varrick, Serpico, Coffy, Dillinger, Badlands. Jesus Christ, people.(Physical media note: Only available on a sad Warner Archive DVD. To the fine folks who run our various beloved physical media imprints, let me quote Mr. Duvall from The Godfather Part II: “Why do you hurt me, Michael? Haven’t I always been loyal to you?”)
A two-bit criminal takes on the Mafia to avenge his brother's death. Earl Macklin is a small time criminal who is released from prison after an unsuccessful bank robbery only to discover that a pair of gunmen killed his brother.

Good movie but also why the hell does every single movie based on a Parker book change his name? Just call him Parker! It’s a good name!(yes the Statham one is the only one where they keep the name which is extra weird)
75Here's the pitch: a grimy, nails in your breakfast cereal, totally downbeat revamp of 1940s crime-noir and 70s existentialism. John Flynn is a firm and guiding hand with this excellent ensemble cast, from Robert Duvall to Karen Black to Joe Don Baker, Robert Ryan, and more. While not necessarily a high watermark for intricate characters, The Outfit doesn't match the stakes or complexity of the greatest crime-thrillers of its era, but it does accomplish a vicious, singular tone of not giving a fuck - all in for the energy and spontaneity of the frazzled plot. The contrast between the sudden violence and its methodical pacing makes for quite an evocative watch. It's damn difficult to take your eyes off of the screen, and watching all of these actors do their thing is often enough.
