Spetses has two cinemas and both are open-air: Cine Marina on the Dapia and Ciné Titania, a little further back at Pefkakia. They open with the summer and close in October, so this page shows what's on and when while they are open.
Cine Marina is on the Dapia, behind the church of Agios Antonios, above the cannons that line the harbour. It sits next to the Anargyros mansion and a few steps from the Bouboulina house museum. The cinema is in a traditional high-ceilinged building and the films are shown on its roof terrace, looking out over the sea. It opened in the 1970s and ran until 2015. After a short spell closed, City Cinemas took it on and reopened it in 2017. Projection is Dolby Digital Cinema with Dolby Digital Surround and DTS sound. On the terrace there are turquoise chairs with small tables, a few loungers, and a bar serving beer, soft drinks and popcorn. Films have an interval, and whatever you buy at the bar you can take to your seat or to the tables with the sea view. Pets are welcome, and staff will bring a bowl of water if you ask. A full ticket costs around 8 euros, with a reduced price for children up to 12, the unemployed and disabled visitors.
Ciné Titania opened in the 1960s and stands a little further back from the Dapia, behind the playground at Pefkakia. Since 2017 it has been run by the Poseidonion Grand Hotel, which renovated it completely and put in a digital projector with Dolby Surround 5.1 sound. It kept the sliding roof, which closes over the audience if a summer shower comes through. Seating is director's chairs with small round tables for drinks and snacks. The programme mixes first-run films, children's films and classic European cinema.
Both cinemas usually open in early June, the Titania some years as early as late May, and close in early October, depending on how many people are still on the island. In winter no cinema is showing films. In season each has two showings a night and the film usually changes almost every day. In June and September the first showing starts earlier; in July and August it moves half an hour later. The week's programme goes up on posters around town and outside each cinema, and if you phone the cinema a recorded message gives the day's films. Tickets are bought at the box office shortly before the showing. Mood gathers the Spetses programme in one place, with the time and venue of every showing, whenever the cinemas are open.

The Titania has kept its sliding roof, which closes over the audience in case of summer rain, so the showing goes on.
