Kanjūrō Arashi (1903–1980) was a prominent Japanese film actor who starred in hundreds of films throughout a career spanning over five decades. Nicknamed "Arakan," he achieved lasting fame for his iconic portrayals in the Kurama Tengu serials and transitioned successfully from silent jidaigeki historical dramas to gritty post-war yakuza and auteur cinema.
Kanjuro Arashi was a prolific Japanese film actor who became a major star of jidaigeki and action cinema, famously known by his nickname Arakan.
He is best known for starring in the long-running Kurama Tengu series, as well as roles in Shohei Imamura's Profound Desires of the Gods and Eiichi Kudo's 13 Assassins.
He worked extensively across major Japanese studios during the golden age of cinema, including Nikkatsu and Toei.
