Vilen Galstyan (Armenian: Վիլեն Գալստյան, (Vilen Sargsyan) 12 February 1941 – 4 June 2021)[1] was an Armenian ballet dancer and actor who was popular in the former U.S.S.R. and especially in Armenia. He was awarded by the People's Artist of Armenia honorary title.
Vilen Galstyan was an Armenian ballet dancer and actor who served as a prominent ballet master at the Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet National Academic Theatre.
He is best known for his portrayal of the poet Sayat-Nova in Sergei Parajanov’s visually distinct masterpiece The Color of Pomegranates.
His career spanned classical ballet performance, choreography, and artistic film acting within the Soviet Armenian cultural scene.
