On January 5th, 2011, we proudly unveiled the inaugural recorded compilation by ambient drone experimentalists, "Herse." Entitled "Contact Has Been Established," this collection comprises three pieces, each delving into the elemental themes of loss, time, and love. "Contact Has Been Established" was meticulously crafted to allow listeners an immersive experience, witnessing the music's creation unfurl without the constraints of time dictating its conclusion. In the initial sessions, drone backing tracks were recorded across four distinct sessions, later intricately layered and re-timed. Following the completion of musical elements, extensive studio hours were dedicated to seamlessly blending the backing tracks into a singular, continuous movement. Each layer was intentionally recorded with disparate time signatures, subsequently re-timed, stretched, or compressed into a 6/8 time signature. Captured at Hit The Roof in Geneva, Switzerland, spanning 2009 to 2010, "Contact Has Been Established" marked the inception of Herse's ongoing sonic experiments. To those who listened, purchased, streamed, downloaded, or observed from a distance, we extend our gratitude. For those who remained indifferent, "Contact Has Been Established" stands as a musical narrative defined by loss, time, and love—from the ticking time bomb of the opening track to the empathetic void encapsulating the closing bars of "To Destroy You is No Loss."
