Joost van Bellen
An underground electro artist.
Joost van Bellen is a Dutch disco dinosaur DJ, a writer, a creative brain for events and festivals and a musical director for fashion shows, theatre plays and museum exhibitions. Van Bellen has been a DJ since 1985 playing mostly dance music but he loves almost any genre and style. He likes arty, edgy, distasteful, cartoony, iconic, rough, beautiful, freaky, raw, fragile, violent and weird tunes, to name a few. Joost van Bellen loves to push boundaries, loves to pave ways for new artists and was one the people who introduced house music to Europe back in 1987 and the one who started his legendary RAUW night, back in 2003, which introduced elctroclash and many edgy artists in The Netherlands. Van Bellen rarely makes music. He finds the possibilities in studio’s too overwhelming and machines too boring. He's dj, and he is what he plays. So check out the playlists: there's many many hours of work in these gems.
