Ranie Ribeiro's artistic journey has taken on new dimensions and disciplines. Formerly known by his DJ moniker D-Ribeiro, Ranie Ribeiro has solidified himself as one of the Netherlands’ most unique harpists. He’s performed live across The Netherlands’ premiere venues and festivals, Paradiso, Le Guess Who?2024 and TivoliVredenburg using the harp to experiment with classical, electronica and jazz elements while creating and expanding upon existing compositions. For Ranie, the act of performing and transforming music live is a meditative and vulnerable process inviting the audience to feel the same. Ribeiro unveiled his talents as a film composer for the first time on Het Jaar Rond on Nous’Klaer (2021), commissioned by the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision. Embracing the harp’s delicate resonance, he went on scoring various projects such as Het Limburgse Landschap (2021), Short Scores (2022) commissioned by Eye Film, and most recently, Waka Nanga Mi (2023) a short film that was screened at the International Film Festival Rotterdam to massive public acclaim. Looking towards the future Ranie Ribeiro carries this sentiment of carving out his own unique space in the Dutch musical landscape with his diverse musical background translated through an oft-overlooked instrument, the harp.
