Formed in October, 2019, The Nicoteens (Latvian- Nikotīņi) is a band from Rīga, Latvia. Many have tried, and many have failed to define The Nicoteens by a single genre- they combine hardcore punk, alternative rock, heavy metal and many other influences in their sound to create their own unique blend of alternative music. The Nicoteens original lineup consisted of Matīss Smīdss (Vocals), Rihards Straume (Drums), Artūrs Valdmanis (Bass), Emīls Strubergs (Lead guitar) and Frederiks Sīlis (Rhythm guitar). From its very beginnings the band has received massive popularity in the local LV “new scene” and praise by critics for their music and their signature high energy live shows. Following extensive local touring and a new lineup, the band set out to capture their early sound, and went on to record their debut full length- “Paaudze” with Emīls Koļesņikovs, founding member of Tavas Māsas Nāsis throughout early 2021, releasing it on the 24th of June. Since the release of Paaudze, The Nicoteens have relentlessly continued their trademark chaotically energetic live performances at countless local shows, music festivals and many other events, endured lineup changes, and have released a live-recorded EP "DEMOz" as a teaser for their upcoming second full length.
