THYGATERES is an indie Greek folk collective project , wich brings together a group of “daughters” who meet at a traditional island festival in the Cyclades — becoming friends, singing, dancing until sunrise, falling in love, and celebrating love and nostalgia. Their sound blends the raw spirit of the Greek panigiri with an indie acoustic folk aesthetic. Lute, gaida, tsampouna, violin, and daouli create the sonic landscape for five young women to coexist — not as a choir, but as distinct musical voices that merge into one. Through unexpected reinterpretations of both well-known and hidden traditional songs, they create vivid musical imagery — filled with the scent of the sea and shaded village squares — bringing a sense of freedom and the freshness of a Greek summer into the city. It’s a dynamic celebration rooted in tradition, yet moving forward into the present and future of both Greek and global music. The project is led by Thomas Konstantinou, founder of TAKIM, one of the most influential Greek folk bands and collaborator of international and Greek artists including Calexico, Eric Burdon, Shantel, Jovanotti, Eleftheria Arvanitaki, Haris Alexiou, Domna Samiou, and more. On March 2026 they featured in Thomas Konstantinou music oratorium "OmniPresent" among various artists like Nana Mouskouri, Haris Alexiou, George Dalaras and many more. Their debut single "Kontoula Lemonia" is set for release in Spring 2026 via "Ethos" under linence to Anima by Stay Independent.
