Having started life as a one-man bedroom project by Alfie Glass, Torus has evolved over the years through various lineup changes, shaped by a constant desire to create music that could bang heads while moving feet. The project has steadily honed its identity into something heavier, sharper, and more focused. The lineup has since settled into its current form, with Alfie Glass joined by drummer Jack Orr. United by a shared vision, the duo are focused on writing direct, impactful songs built on groove, atmosphere, and weight. “We all come from different places musically, but share the same vision for the music we want to write,” Orr notes. At the core of Torus’s sound is strong songwriting with simple, catchy hooks pushed into heavier territory. “The aim has always been to take good songs and make them hit harder,” Glass explains. “I think Torus is the best version and clearest realisation of that aim we’ve ever achieved.” Torus’s every move to date has been met with intrigue and acclaim. Ahead of their critically lauded debut EP Sail, tastemakers including Kerrang! and Classic Rock championed the band’s “brand of zero-bullshit hard rock,” praising their “gargantuan riffs and thick, monstrous grooves.” Often compared to the likes of Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, and The Smashing Pumpkins, Torus continue to channel classic influence into a modern, driven sound built for loud speakers and late nights.
