Derrick May is widely celebrated as one of the pioneering architects of Detroit techno. Emerging in the early 1980s alongside Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson as part of the Deep Space collective, he helped define the futuristic, soulful sound of the genre with seminal releases like 'Strings of Life' under his Rhythim Is Rhythim alias and through his influential Transmat label. His visionary approach to electronic music continues to resonate globally.
