Under the baton of Andris Nelsons, the evening also features the UK premiere of a Beethoven sketch for an orchestral overture, completed by composer Jörg Widmann as a tribute to Bach. Wagner famously compared listening to the Seventh Symphony to visiting paradise, particularly noting its celebrated second movement.
