ZIAD: A Tribute by Faraj Suleiman

The songs of Lebanese composer and pianist Ziad Rahbani come alive again at the hands of Faraj Suleiman, joined by a 20-piece ensemble. Few artists have shaped the sound of the modern Arab world like Ziad Rahbani. Composer, playwright, pianist and son of the iconic singer Fairuz, he fused Lebanese song with jazz, funk and biting satire, creating music that became the soundtrack of a generation. For this special evening, pianist and composer Faraj Suleiman takes up his songbook. Established as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Arabic music, Suleiman places the piano at the heart of a sound that draws equally on Eastern melodies, jazz and classical traditions. Suleiman is joined by guest vocalists and a 20-piece ensemble, bringing Rahbani's richly layered arrangements to life on a grand scale.
