John Adams conducts a program tracing the evolution of rhythmic-based experimental music across the 20th and 21st centuries. The evening features the premiere of Adams' own entry in the LA Phil Etudes series, John Cage’s gamelan-inspired metal percussion work, and Lou Harrison’s Organ Concerto. The performance also includes Conrad Tao’s Pacific 88 paired with a new work by Wang Lu, concluding with a piece by Pulitzer Prize finalist and footwork DJ, Jlin.
