The finest viol consort on the planet celebrates its 40th anniversary at Wigmore Hall with a cast of close colleagues and friends. The program explores the glories of the viol consort repertoire, reaching back to the music of Dowland, John Jenkins, and William Lawes, while also looking forward with contemporary works by Sir George Benjamin and Silas Wollston. A look at Fretwork’s expansive discography reveals their deep appetite for musical exploration, from early music staples to modern compositions.
