Annie Whitehead brings her distinctive trombone sound to the Vortex Jazz Club with her New 5tet. Whitehead began her professional career with Ivy Benson’s All Girl Orchestra and has since collaborated with a vast array of artists across jazz and pop, including the Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Joan Armatrading, and Elvis Costello. The performance features a stellar lineup of veteran musicians. Multi-instrumentalist Jennifer Maidman, known for her work with George Clinton and Boy George, joins on bass. Geoffrey Richardson of Caravan and Penguin Cafe Orchestra performs on viola, while acclaimed keyboardist Steve Lodder and Steeleye Span drummer Liam Genockey round out the ensemble.
