Marie Van Uytvanck and Amber Piddington found their strength in reduction: two guitars, an unusually deep voice, and lyrics that don't flinch. What started as a temporary solution in a Belgian competition became the spark for Kids With Buns, now one of Europe's most compelling indie voices. Their music sounds like quiet confessions in the dark of a teenage bedroom and anthems for those who feel out of place. With their debut album Out of Place, the duo shifted from bedroom-pop to a louder indie-rock sound. Inspired by Nick Drake and the openness of Girl in Red, they are now joined by a full band on stage. Their songs tackle themes of teenage angst and queer identity with a raw honesty that avoids romanticization, finding beauty in the difficulties of growing up.
