First Night of the Proms 2026
A raw, nostalgic orchestral night.
The 2026 BBC Proms season opens with an American-inspired programme led by conductor Dalia Stasevska. The evening begins with the bold brass of Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man, followed by the urban energy of Gershwin’s An American in Paris. Piano virtuoso Yunchan Lim joins for Ravel’s jazz-influenced Piano Concerto in G major. The second half features the world premiere of a BBC commission by Josephine Stephenson and concludes with Gerald Finzi’s ode For St Cecilia.
