An underground classical night.
Randall Goosby performs Barber’s Violin Concerto as part of a soaring programme that includes the UK premiere of Caroline Shaw’s intergalactic oratorio, The Listeners. The evening begins with Boris Lyatoshinsky’s Grazhyna, a song of defiance from Ukraine, before Goosby takes center stage for Barber's tender and rapturous concerto. The centerpiece is Shaw's communicative new work, which draws on the words of Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, and Carl Sagan, imagining a space probe’s journey into the future.
