Jozef Van Wissem is an avant-garde composer and lutenist who has carved out a unique language bridging baroque music, minimalism, and drone, while incorporating influences from no wave and industrial music. His hypnotic and austere compositions hover between contemplative beauty and a nearly ritualistic darkness. A frequent collaborator with Jim Jarmusch, with whom he scored the award-winning soundtrack for Only Lovers Left Alive, he returns for a third time to Casa Montjuïc following his live scores for Nosferatu and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. On this occasion, he will perform a live score to Fritz Lang's 1921 silent film masterpiece, Destiny, an exploration of the boundaries between life, death, and the supernatural.
